Friday, March 6 at 7p.m Book Woman is pleased to be joined by author Elizabeth A. Garcia. Garcia is the author of Border Ghosts, which was the winner of the “Best Crime Novel of the Year” from the Texas Authors Association. Garcia will be reading and signing her book Border Ghosts. The novel is about a young, woman, deputy living in Texas.
Saturday, March 7 at 6:30p.m. Poet Laura Saurborn Young will be releasing her new book at Malvern Books. Laura Saurborn Young’s new book is Industry of Brief Distraction. She teaches Creative Writing at the University of Texas Austin. Along with poetry she writes fiction, essays, reviews, and she also enjoys photography,
Sunday, March 8 at 4p.m. There is going to be another famous book club at Book People. This book club is their Required Reading Revisited Book Club, which is a book club that rereads those required readings we all had to read in school. This months discussion will be over Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston.
Monday, March 9 at 7p.m. Book people is going to be having Local Author Night. The night will feature authors De Maricruz Acuna and Cathy Chapaty. Maricruz Acuna will be here with her newest work, El Camino de Regreso. Cathy Chapaty will present No Pouting in the Dojo.
Tuesday, March 10 at 7p.m. Book Woman is having a Getting to know the Goddess Series: Margot Adler remembered. Mrs. Adler was a wonderful, adventurous woman who wrote amazing novels in her day. Book Woman is proud to be remembering Margot Adler by reading in memory of Adler. Along with reading from her books, they will be watching videos clips of Adler, and sharing memories. Join to celebrate the life of Margot Adler.
Wednesday, March 11 at 10:30a.m. Book People will be having another wonderful story time for the children. This story time will feature My New Friend is so Fun! an elephant and piggy book. Also at 7p.m. there is going to be a night of poets. Poet Noel Crook will be in conversation with poet Naomi Shihab Nye. Sahib Nye is going to be speaking to Crook about her latest collection Salt Moon.
Thursday, March 12 at 8p.m. Malvern Books is having Novel Night. This Novel Night will feature authors Thomas McNeely and Mike Freedman. McNeely will be reading from his novel Ghost Horse and Freedman will be reading from his debut book School Board. After both authors read their will be an audience Q&A. Malvern will also have a a book talk in which a Malvern staff member will introduce one of their favorite prose pieces.
This Week at The Writing Barn at 9:30a.m.-3p.m. there is going to be a Write Away Day. Need a change of pace, or a special writing escape? The Writing Barn welcomes writers from Austin and beyond to a Write Away Day event.
