Hello Everyone I hope all is going well and also, I hope you all had a chance to engage in the Austin Book World this past week. If not that okay there is always this week. This week the Austin Book World has plenty to offer people of all ages. From story time to signings there is something for you. Thursday, February 26 at 7p.m. Author and Social Worker, Julia Aziz is going to be at Book People. Aziz is going to be speaking and signing about her new memoir, Lessons of Labor: One Woman’s Self-Discovery Through Birth and Motherhood. Aziz is going to be sharing some wonderful stories about motherhood, the birth of her children, and even a miscarriage.
Friday, February 27 at 7p.m. Shannon Galpin is going to be at Book Woman reading and signing her memoir Mountain to Mountain: A Journey of Adventure and Activism for the Women of Afghanistan. Galpin is the founder and president of Mountain2Mountain, a non profit organization that helps children and women in Afghanistan.
Saturday, February 28 at 7p.m. Malvern Books is pleased to be working with VSA and the Pen 2 Paper Creative Writing Contest. They will be hosting an event called The Lion & The Pirate Unplugged. The evening is going to be an open mic night. The night will include both writers and musicians. The open mic night is also in celebration of the one year anniversary.
Sunday, March 1 at 3p.m. There is going to be an afternoon with Scott Wiggerman, Paul Licce, and Joe Blanda at Malvern Books. The evening is going to start off with some wonderful music by Blanda, followed by Licce sharing some of his Mueller Lake photography, and the night is going to be focused around the launch of WIggerman’s new poetry collection Leafs and Beaks:Sonnets.
Monday, March 2 at 7p.m. Book People has their monthly, first Monday of the month book club. This book club is known as the 7% Solution Book Club. The book club gets together every month to explore some of the wonderful mysteries out in the fiction world. This months discussion will be over Birds of a Feather by Jacqueline WInspear.
Tuesday, March 3 at 10:30p.m. There is going to be a Dr. Seuss story time at Book People. This is a big one because Dr. Seuss is 111 and without the wonderful Dr. Seuss some of us would have never had the opportunity to embark on our most creative and imaginative adventures.
Wednesday, March 4 at 7p.m. Dean Sluyter is going to be at Book People speaking and signing. He is going to be speaking about his book Natural Meditation: A Guide to Effortless Meditative Practice. Sluyter is going to be answering questions and giving advice based on tips that he provides in the book.
Thursday, March 5 at 7p.m. Author Reif Larsen is going to be joining everybody at Book People to sign and speak about his latest novel I am Radar. This is a book about the forgotten history and quantum physics. Larsen is a New York Times Bestseller for his first novel The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet.
