Random Acts of Kindness Week ran from February 14 to February 20.
So, here are a few ideas for things writers can do as random acts of kindness in the literary community:
- Share a poem or a story with a stranger
- Donate a book to a local school, child care center, hospital or community center
- Place a bookmark in every book in a local library shelf or a Little Free Library
- Place a new writing journal and pen in a library or other public space
- Place poems, cards or quotes on windshields in a parking lot
- Take a stack of children’s books and sit on a corner and read aloud
- Volunteer to read at a local school or library
- Post a book review on Amazon or elsewhere
- Blog or tweet about a book and tag the author
- Create a list of recommended books on Instagram and tag the authors
- Donate a free critique to a writer you don’t know
- Donate free read aloud to a writer you don’t know
- Donate a class or a seminar to a writer you don’t know
- Donate to a writing organization
- Donate editing services to a non-profit
- Send cards or stories or books to a children’s home or an assisted living center or a hospital
- Send a book or writing materials to a stranger
- Create an Elfster.com exchange of writing materials or books
A little bit of kindness makes the writing community even stronger. Share your ideas for random acts of kindness by commenting below.
Spread love, encouragement and, most importantly, kindness.
