Hello everyone! Thanks for joining us again this week. I hope you all have had an amazing week and got out and supported the writers in this wonderful community. There is plenty to do this week in case you missed out last week. From open mics, signings, and story time for the little ones. This week is full of wonderful authors from around Texas and Austin specifically. Get out and engage in the book world everyone, until next week.

Thursday, April 9 at 7p.m. Novel Night with Drew Hayes and David Heymann at Malvern Books. This is a monthly event at Malvern Books in which two published authors read their latest and then there is a Q&A, after there is an open mic for volunteers to read their own unpublished work. Lastly, a staff member will introduce one of Malvern Books newest favorite prose. Hayes will be reading form The Utterly Uninteresting and unadventurous tales of Fred, The Vampire Accountant. Heymann will be reading from his debut novel, My Beautiful City Austin, A story about a young architect in Austin, Texas.
Friday, April 10 at 7p.m. Author and conceptual artist, James Hannaham will be at Book People. The night will include a reading from Hannahams’ newest novel, Delicious Foods. As always, after the reading there will be a book signing with the purchase of the novel from Book People.
Saturday, April 11 at 4p.m. Malvern Books is excited to be welcoming VSA Texas and the Pen2Paper Creative Writing contest as they present to us The Lion & The Pirate Unplugged. This is an open mic event welcoming children with and without disabilities to share their talents in the community. The event is not only for writers, but musicians, dancers, and performers of all kinds.
Sunday, April 12 at 1p.m. Malvern Books is having an afternoon in celebration of recent award winning authors and books. DEAR Texas presents the Best of Texas Association of Authors. The afternoon will include authors:Andrea Stehle, Gods of Arcadia – Best Fantasy Sci/Fi Fiction, David Alkek,The Doorway – Best General Poetry, Kimberly E. M. Beasley, Revelations of My Heart – Best Spiritual Poetry, Jan Sikes, The Convict and the Rose – Best Biography Fiction, Maryann Miller, Doubletake – Best Mystery Fiction, Mary B Stafford , A Wasp in the Fig Tree – Best Historical Fiction
RC Knipstein, Paradise Forbidden – Best General Fiction, Art Anthony, Return to Sulphur River – Best Western Fiction, J.C. Hulsey, The Traveler Series (Angel Falls, Texas) – Best Western Series Fiction, and Jeffery Allen Mays, The Former Hero – Best Suspense/Thriller Fiction.
Monday, April 13 at 7p.m. There is going to be a wonderful event at Book People featuring three wonderful YA authors. The featured authors are Justine Larbalestier author of Razorhurst, Ally Carter author of All Fall Down: Embassy Road #1, and David Leviathan author of Hold Me Closer: The Tiny Cooper Story. The evening will include a Q&A for each of the authors and a book signing with the purchase of their book from Book People.
Tuesday, April 14 at 7p.m. Malvern Books is pleased to welcome everyone for an evening with author of Girls I Know, Douglas Trevor. Trevor other books have won many book awards in the past. The evening will include a reading, Q&A, and a signing.
Wednesday, April 15 at 10:30a.m. It’s that time again, Book People is having their Tiny Tails Petting Zoo Storytime. Get the little ones together for a free event featuring the cutest little critters and a wonderful story time corresponding with the many visitors that will be making an appearance.
This Week at The Writing Barn: April 12 at 9a.m. We’re going above and beyond the experience of spending the day writing at a café- enjoy complimentary coffee and snacks, chat with local creatives and maybe even find a new writing partner and friend! Wifi access is available and outlets are aplenty throughout the Barn and porch area.
