What’s Happening in the Austin Book World October 30-November 6

First of all, Happy Halloween, everybody! This week in the book world there are going to be some spook-tacular events worth going to and plenty of spooky fun for the kids. From book
signings to whiskey drinking, to trick-or-treating for books, there is something for everyone. Once again everybody, don’t miss all these free and fun opportunities to engage in the writing world.

downloadOn October 30 at 5:30 PM Book people will be hosting a book talk at Opa during happy hour. They will be discussing Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Mansion Murders by Vincent Bugliosi with Curt Gentry. Whats better than discussing spooky books over cocktails?

On October 31 at 6 PM Book people will be having some Halloween fun for the kids. Make sure the children wear their best costumes and get ready for some spook-tacular Halloween stories. After the story-time there will be a parade around the store where the kids can get candy and at the end of the parade each child will receive a free book. What better treat than a free book?

On November 1 at 2 PM Book People is pleased to welcome Chris Barton and Kari Anne Holt. The two authors will be imagesspeaking and signing their new books Chris Barton will talk about his book Attack! Boss! Cheat! Code!: A Gamer’s Alphabet and Kari Anne Holt will be speaking and signing her newest book Rhyme Scheme.

On November 2 at 5 PM New York City Best-Selling author, William Gibson will be at Book People. He will be speaking about his book The Peripheral. After wards there will be a book signing. The Peripheral is about a brother and sister who encounter some interesting events throughout there journey together, its hard for Flynne, the sister, to realize if it’s just a game or a murder.

On November 3 at 7 PM Book People is proud to present to us, Author and Whiskey Authority, Heather Greene. Her book Whisk(e)y Distilled: A Populist Guide to the Water of Life answers all sorts of questions about wiskey…wisky? including what’s the deal with the two different spellings of the word. 

On November 5 at 7 PM Book People is pleased to welcome Chris Hadfield, former Astronaut and author of a number one best seller. Chris will be talking about his new book You Are Here: Around the World in 92 Minutes. The book features photographs of the world as it looks from above. After Chris Hadfield talks about his book there will be a book signing.

On November 6 at 7 PM Acclaimed Texas Author and Illustrator, Bill Wittliff and Jack Unruh are going to be at Book People talking about their WITTLIFF_COMP_F_39344336+(1)new book, The Devil’s Backbone. This book takes readers on an adventurous journey through Texas, and into Mexico. Will the boy be able to find his momma before Old Karl does? Join Papa on his adventure to find Momma.
