Hello everyone! I hope it’s been a good week. This week is a busy on in the Austin Book World. From story times to signings there is a little something for everyone. Readers, writers, poets, and children there is an event for all of your interests. If there is nothing this week that fits your schedule then you can at least pick up one of your favorite reads or go out and search the shelves for something new. Whatever you prefer, just get out and engage and enjoy the beauty of the Austin Book World.

Thursday, February 5 at 11a.m. former governor of Arkansas and author Mike Huckabee is going to be at Book People signing his new book God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy. This is a book where Huckabee has explored a lot of the many issues and topics that make up the American culture. Some of the topics are religion, politics, race, and gender.
Friday, February 6 at 7p.m. Book People is excited to be having pretty little liars star, photographer, and author Keegan Allen for a signing of his new book life.love.beauty. The book is a beautiful timeline of Keegan Allen and the photographs that he has been taking since the first time he got his hands on a camera. The photographs in this book are divided into three books, thus the title, life, love, and beauty.
Saturday, February 7 at 11:30a.m. Book People is having another famous story time. This weeks story time is going to feature Fancy Nancy by Jane O’Connor. 10 years ago on this day the world was introduced to the famous Fancy Nancy and since then she has been inspiring young girls. So it is only appropriate that this weeks story time is about all of our favorite characters.
Sunday, February 8 at 4p.m. It’s that time again, time to revisit those required readings that were not so enjoyable in school. Book People is having their Required Reading Revisited Book Club. This weeks revisited book is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Monday, February 9 at 7p.m. Book people is pleased to be hosting Local Author Night. The night will feature author of Mirabilis: A Novel, Teresa Turner Chang, author of Honky Tonk Debutante: The History of Honky-Tonk Music as I care to Tell it, Christine Warren, and author of Two for the Road: A Relationship Manual Designed for Him…and Essential for Her, Gale D. Stanton. The featured authors will each be speaking about their books.
Tuesday, February 10 at 7p.m. Book people will be playing host to a live podcast for KUT podcast called The Write Up with Owen Egerton and it will feature local author Suzy Spencer. Tune in as Spencer answers questions about her book Secret Sex Lives, and questions about her writing process and creativity.
Wednesday, February 11 at 7p.m. Malvern Books is having their Raw Paw Reading Series, a local group founded in Austin in 2010 and features a book of poetry called Mind Maze with 20 poems. The event will feature poets who are releasing chapbooks soon, Ash Smith, Joe Brundidge/Element615, and Montsho.
Thursday, February 12 at 7p.m. Book Woman is having their Second Thursday Open Mic. This month will feature AR Rogers and Sarah Hackley, two of Austins wonderful poets. After Rogers and Hackley there will be an open mic for anyone who would like to share some of their own poetry.
This Week at The Writing Barn: On Sunday, February 8 will be Write Away Day at The Writing Barn. Click on the link for more information on how to reserve a spot for this day long event. The day will consist of silence and writing for those of you who just need to get away for awhile and work on some writing.
