Hello everyone. I hope you all have had a wonderful week, if not, then I hope some of these wonderful events this week will help you out. From story times to signings, this week has a little something for everyone. And for those of you who have yet to make some Valentines Day plans there is going to be some lovely Valentines events this week. Thursday, February 12 at 7p.m. Book Woman is having another day full of fabulous poets. Second Thursday Open Mic this month will be featuring two amazing poets. The first is A.R. Roger, a poet living in Austin, TX. The Second, will be Sarah Hackley, a well published poet who is currently working on her first novel. Make sure to bring some of your own poems because after Rogers and Hackley read there will be an open mic for all to share some work.
Friday, February 13 at 7p.m. Book Woman is heating things up for Valentines Day a little early. You can never spread too much love and sensuality. Today, Book Woman will be having a V-Day Erotica Reading. There will also be time for people to share stories. The day will include stories from a number of individuals prepared to share their love stories.
Saturday, February 14 at 10a.m. There is going to be another wonderful story time at Book People. The story time will feature author and illustrator of Second Banana, Keith Graves. After he reads his book there is going to be a fun drawing session for the children to draw some Valentines Day cards.
Monday, February 16 at 7p.m. There is going to be a play on Noir at the Bar with authors Trey Barker, Bill Loehfelm, Lou Berney, and Jesse Sublett. Each of the authors will have a chance to read and discuss some of their work. Come and listen to some wonderful crime fiction and what goes better with a good book? Yes, of course some drinks. come for the authors stay for the drinks. This is hosted by Book People, but will take place at Opal Divine’s on South Congress.
Tuesday, February 17 at 7p.m. David Heymann, author of My Beautiful City Austin will be at Book People for a speaking and signing. Heyman is a well-known Texas Author and his book is made up of seven tales about an architect who cannot seem to make his clients happy. Read the book and learn about this young architects journey of failures.
Wednesday, February 18 at 10:30a.m. Book People is pleased to be hosting a wonderful little story time with some little friends. Tiny Tails Petting Zoo will be joining all the children for some stories. After the story time the children will have the opportunity to meet and pet some cute little critters.
Thursday, February 19 at 7p.m. Writers’ League of Texas Third Thursday: When Less is More: Writing Short Stories, Essays, and Flash Fiction is going to be taking place at Book People. Steve Adams, Kelly Luce, Meg Pokrass, and Robert Shapard will be here to help individuals learn more about what goes into writing short stories and flash fiction.
This week at The Writing Barn: For any Austin writers with a flexible schedule, The Writing Barn is thrilled to host another Write Away Day. Tuesday, February 17th, from 9:30a.m.– 3:00p.m. we will open up The Writing Barn and screened-in front porch to anyone looking for a peaceful place among the deer and trees of south Austin to write for the day. (Fee: $15)
