Lucky for us, Saturday, January 24th was a nice day with plenty of deer visitors and sun beams to nestle under for National Readathon Day. From 11:30 – 4:00, The Writing Barn opened its doors to Austinites, offering a cozy place for those wanting to spend a Saturday reading, relaxing and drinking coffee.
National Readathon Day was declared January 24th by The National Book Foundation, GoodReads,Mashable and Penguin Random House, its mission being to expand and nourish a nation of readers and help fund endeavors to educate, tutor and raise excitement over reading books.
We had an eclectic mix of titles at our Readathon party, from The Shining by Stephen King, to The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. We think reading is such an important aspect to the craft of writing, and making time for it can be hard. Kudos to those who read steadily with us for four straight, blissful hours!
