Reed Farrel Coleman: Where It Hurts
Born and raised a Brooklyn boy, Reed Farrel Coleman began writing in high school. He has completed twenty-one novels and has been pinned a “hard-boiled poet” by NPR’s Maureen Corrigan. Coleman’s creative genius does not stop there. He has also published numerous short stories and poems over the years. This three-time Edgar Award nominee now spends his time writing and teaching at Hofstra University in New York. He lives with his family in Long Island.
Coleman primarily writes crime fiction novels. He spoke about how the fact that someone’s life can turn for the worse so quickly – such as a car accident or a shooting – interested him greatly and led him into this genre. Ever since he was a kid, criminals and their ways of thinking fascinated him.
About Where It Hurts
Coleman’s Where It Hurts is primarily about a cop who seeks to uncover the truth of a case where everyone – including his fellow law enforcers – seem to have something to hide. Coleman described his book as “not for the faint of heart.” It is a jaw dropping, gut wrenching, rollercoaster of a journey fresh with characters that seem to pop out of the page. Many fans in the audience at BookPeople praised Coleman for his realistic characters and his gift of “creating sentences that punch you in the stomach.”
