Join us for a Write Away Day! Need a change of pace or a special writing escape? The Writing Barn welcomes writers from Austin and beyond to a Write Away Day on Sunday, May 5, 2024 9:00AM-3:00 PM.
We’re going above and beyond the experience of spending the day writing at a café—enjoy complimentary coffee, tea and water, chat with local creatives and maybe even find a new writing partner and friend! Wifi access is available and outlets are aplenty throughout Buddha Hall. Don’t hesitate to take a breather with a lovely stroll around the 7.5 acres of Writing Barn property. Meals are not included, so please bring your own lunch or have food delivered. (Refrigerator and Microwave onsite.)
The Barn will be open from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, and attendees have the option to stay until 3 or come and go as needed. Writers need solitude, and support from like-minded folks, too! That’s why we’ve structured our Write Away Day as follows:
- 9:00-9:30AM – Writing Barn personnel will lead introductions and all participants will state their writing goals for the day.
- 9:30AM-11:30AM – Silent writing.
- 11:30 AM- 12:30PM – Bring your own lunch! Group discussion over lunch.
- 12:30PM-3:00PM – Silent Writing (optional writing prompt provided).
Coffee, tea, and water are provided throughout the day. Please bring your own lunch or have food delivered. There will be a fridge and microwave available if needed.

**** If you are a writer from out of town who would like to stay overnight at the Barn before or after the Write Away Day, we will comp your registration to the Write Away Day. Please reach out to retreat@thewritingbarn.com to discuss rental rates.
