Join editor Anna (Sargeant) Luketic for a webinar that takes writers on a journey through the 10 reasons their work may not be getting picked up!

So, you’ve been writing for years, but you’re not getting published. This can be quite frustrating! As an acquiring editor, I’ll share 10 reasons that might be the case. Topics include “The concept is not wild enough,” “The book makes perfect sense but has no shape,” and “The author doesn’t see their book as a proof of concept for their business.”

Understanding the industry can seem pretty impossible at times, but in this webinar, editor Anna (Sargeant) Luketic will bring the transparency every writer needs to the forefront.

Who Should Take This Class:

  • Writers with a picture book manuscript that isn’t quite working
  • Writers who have been having trouble breaking in to the industry
  • Those in the query trenches
  • Writers looking for a little more industry transparency
  • Picture book writers

About the Instructor:

Anna (Sargeant) Luketic is an editor of nonfiction children’s books at Sourcebooks eXplore. She was previously an editor and art director at B&H Publishing. Anna holds a degree in K-8 education with a mathematics concentration from California State University, Long Beach. She has worked in schools, non-profits, and freelance. As an elementary school teacher, Anna fell in love with children’s literature and has been obsessed ever since. She studied writing for children under Liz Garton Scanlon, and she teaches and critiques through various organizations, such as SCBWI, Inked Voices, and the Writing Barn. Anna grew up in Southern California, lived for a short stint near Nashville, and has spent most of her adult life in Austin, Texas. When she’s not at her desk, you might find her at the barre studio, at the theater, on a plane, on a walk, or at a local restaurant with friends, hopefully eating chips and guacamole.
