From Strikeout Drafts to Hilarious Home Runs – Transforming a Picture Book Idea Takes Years!
For writers, readers, and educators alike, Bethany will share the knee-stained-years-long process of picture book creation.
From original idea, to searching for the “hook,” to more messy drafts than RBIs, Bethany will take all gathered in the Zoom dugout and will detail the play by play of how Batter Up For the First Day of School and its earlier companion Huddle Up, Cuddle Up were created. There will be a show and share of early drafts, a timeline of the process, and more!
Writers will leave with tips to take the more than 9 inning process through to completion; educators and parents will leave with resources for the classroom, and any kiddos in attendance will have the opportunity to come up to the plate for a Q&A.
PLUS any and all Courage to Create members will have a special follow-up community Q&A about tips and tricks for authors in their lead up to launch season, and one lucky writer who has a book under contract will be invited to do a Bethany Brainstorm to generate ideas for their next launch.
