About the Instructor:
Rebecca E. Hirsch is an award-winning author of more than ninety nonfiction books for children. Her picture books include Plants Can’t Sit Still and Rise to the Sky: How the World’s Tallest Trees Grow Up, both illustrated by Mia Posada; Night Creatures, illustrated by Sonia Possentini; and the forthcoming riddle book, Wonder Wings: Guess Who’s Flying, illustrated by Sally Soweol Han.
In addition to being an author, Rebecca holds a B.S. and a Ph.D. in the life sciences and loves igniting kids’ excitement for science and discovery. She lives in Pennsylvania and is represented by Sarah Stephens at Red Fox Literary.
Heather L. Montgomery‘s interest in nature led to a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Environmental Education. For years Heather developed curriculum and directed the McDowell Environmental Center. Later, she taught in the classroom, directed summer camps, and finally discovered writing! Now, Heather’s published 18 books for young people and owes much of her publishing knowledge to the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, particularly the Southern Breeze Region.
