October 1st is former president Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday. And just a couple of days later on October 3rd, we celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s 155th birthday. Plus, our Founder and Creative Director Bethany Hegedus has her 52nd birthday this week on October 4th, so we thought we’d take this opportunity to spread the word about her books featuring these two icons!
Jimmy Carter is our country’s oldest living former president. Hard Work, But It’s Worth It: The Life of Jimmy Carter is the first picture book biography about this humanitarian leader. Another unforgettable humanitarian we want to celebrate this week is Mahatma Gandhi. You, Me, We: A Celebration of Peace and Community relays the teachings of this civil rights activist as delivered to his grandson, Arun Gandhi, who worked with Bethany on this project and two previous picture books. The result is a warm, inspiring picture book about peace and how we can all find it in our daily lives.
